Morandi was established in 1973 by Vittorio Morandi, who, after a decade of experience at Celestri, decided to start his business by setting up a company in Via Zara, Brescia, specialized in the distribution of iron and steel material of various origins. The company moved to Flero in 1980.
In 1984, Vittorio’s son Emanuele Morandi, with a degree in Business Economics, became Managing Director of the Company. The years spent with suppliers, customers, associations and stakeholders, his pursuit of innovation, a desire to go the extra mile to overcome obstacles, led Emanuele to start two major projects in the world of steel: in 2000, Siderweb Spa was created, the steel community that in a short time became a point of reference and daily exchange for industry operators. In 2005, together with the Siderweb team, Emanuele conceived Made in Steel, the first Italian event for the steel industry.
Over the years, Morandi has increasingly specialized in trading and in the processing of carbon steel hollow sections. In 1993 the business became a joint-stock company and in 2005 it obtained the UNI EN ISO 9001-2008 quality certification, and became more competitive and efficient with respect to market demands.
In 2013, two years after the loss of its founder Vittorio, Giorgio Maschietto was asked to lead the company in the role of General Manager. In recent years, also the two children of Emanuele, Paolo and Francesca Morandi, have been involved in the Group.
Since then, the company has focused its strategies towards the construction market, by including in its range the structural hollow sections En 10219 and En 10210. Since 2015, Morandi Spa is also certified according to EN 1090-1: 2009/A1:2011, which refers to the requirements for the conformity of the characteristics performance of structural steel and aluminum components, fabrications and kits of parts manufactured from steel.
Computerization, structuring the sales network and internationalization are some of the levers through which Morandi Spa wants to innovate the system of steel distribution and look to the future.
