On Friday 13 October 2023 we celebrated our 50th anniversary since foundation.
Chairman Emanuele Morandi said: ‘We continue to grow in the founder’s footsteps,
with gentle determination,putting people’s well-being at the centre”
On the evening of Friday 13 October 2023 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Morandi Steel, founded by Vittorio Morandi on 13 October 1973. We convened in our headquarters, to mark a very important moment for our company, together with all our employees, former employees, and stakeholders.
For these reasons, as our chairman Emanuele Morandi explained, we chose the title ‘We are our story’:
“This evocative title commemorate a special milestone. It all started with father Vittorio Martino Morandi, known as Tino, and his intuition to create a small one-man company trading in steel products. For us, memory is life and not mere nostalgia. It is life because the challenges taken on by Vittorio have led to the birth of numerous projects and to the development of a group of leading companies in the steel industry, such as siderweb and Made in Steel”.
It was also the opportunity to acknowledge two pillars of our story: Antonio Dusi and M’Barek Ait Allali, who have recently retired, who were presented with a plate to thank them for their commitment and work. It was deeply emotional to retrace our first 50 years, on the wings of Fabio Tavelli’s words, assisted by siderhub’s animated storytelling.
An evening of rejoicing and sharing, enjoyed with the whole team, the stakeholders, and the friends of Morandi Steel, as Emanuele Morandi pointed out:
“We celebrated this anniversary together with all the people close to Morandi Steel and, in particular, with those who have worked with us in the past and work with us today with the purpose of winning the challenges we face. Companies are not just made of buildings, machines, and offices, they have a soul, i.e., the men and women who are involved in the company daily. Putting people at the centre is not a mere slogan at Morandi Steel, it is a concrete commitment made up of investments in corporate welfare and permanent training of the whole team. There is always room for improvement, and we are all committed to on-going improvement. It is this style, our ‘gentle determination’ inherited from father Vittorio, that has allowed us to grow and become what we are today”.
Morandi Steel closed 2022 with a turnover of more than 18 million euros, EBITDA of 2.108 million euros, a net profit of 1.076 million euros and a head count of twenty. It is a modern and innovative service centre, specialising in 3D laser processing of carbon steel tubes, the result of the investment in technology and digitalisation made in recent years. Starting in 2019, the company has put in two 3D laser cutting machines and developed new high value-added services for their customers. The integration of an ERP system, which allows real time management, monitoring and tracking of every single order, and the installation of a second system of photovoltaic panels to cover the second building are among the latest investments.
“Digitalisation, innovation, sustainability, and partnership are the four pillars of the ‘formidable challenge’ that we have decided to take on. This approach is summarized with the term ‘servitisation’, i.e., the need to offer the market extended and increasingly customised services. To do this, we invest in people, hardware, and software, and we will continue to do so. This shall take us into the future and towards new goals because it is in our DNA: take that extra step to go further”.
Emanuele Morandi also underlined another special milestone for the company and the Group:
“This anniversary marks another milestone for our family: the generational change, I am passing the baton to my children Paolo and Francesca”.
